Today on the server someone asked whether we had a community ventrilo server...
I told him no but said I'd suggest it if he wanted it...

Anyways.
We could have some kind of messaging system to create a community. Ventrilo, Teamspeak and Xfire are the most commonly used with games. Depending on whether the big-bosses of SSQ are willing to spend some money, getting a server could be beneficial (I know Hampshire Heavies use a ventrilo server which their players can connect to, and it works well).

On second thoughts; this idea could wait 'till later when we've got a more dedicated player base - no point getting something if it won't be used.

Steve Meister and me are usually communicating via a local Mumble-server which runs on my PC.

It works pretty well, it's a lot quicker than the usual steam chat and I think it would be a good addition for upcoming clanmatches. Maybe Steve can work something out? I don't think money will ever be spent on anything, but never say never!

Also - KOI we have an IRC channel too - I believe there is a link on the home page. Also, doesnt vent have access to a free server for up to 8 players or so...? Or was that a promo thing only?

Great suggestion tho KOI, but I'm sure you'll agree it'll be of more use with a greater user base who is more active with communication between us.

How does the Steam group voice chat hold up? I think you can enable voice con in those, but haven't seen it so I don't know how good it is

The quality is, quite frankly, pathetic. But it has the benefit of disabling itself anytime you speak ingame.

Steam Voice Chat has too much delay to be useful in game... trust me, Steve Meister and me used it a lot and there were many, many moments like "Hey, there's a spy behind you!!" and the message arrived split seconds after he saw the freeze cam shot of his opponent wink

But it's okay for occasional stuff, though
